Marta Land - Owner
Marta Land has been the proud owner of House of Flowers for nearly 20 years. She is most passionate about making people smile through all of life’s events and strives to always surpass expectations by transforming her client’s dreams into reality. Land is self-described as a free spirit, fun-loving and always ready for a good time. She can be ready to travel anywhere in the world at a moment’s notice – just give her 10 minutes! In her previous capacities, Land worked in an adult daycare and was an elementary school teacher. She holds a bachelor’s degree in fashion design from the University of Oklahoma as well as a master’s degree in education from the University of Central Oklahoma. Land has been very involved in the Shawnee community, serving on multiple boards and committees over the years. Her philanthropic engagements don’t stop there, she has also played a large role in facilitating a project with Rotary Club of Shawnee on an international program supporting an orphanage in Benin, Africa. When not at the shop, Land spends most of her time with her husband, beloved children and seven grandchildren. You’re also likely to find her taking an afternoon siesta, at a music festival or hanging out with her miniature horse, Oliver. Her life philosophy is simple – “Just dance. No matter what else is happening.”

Melanie Birchett – Delivery and Technical Manager, Junior Designer
Melanie Birchett, a California native and long-time resident of Shawnee, has been with House of Flowers for nearly five years. She currently serves as the delivery and technical manager as well as a junior designer. Her responsibilities include delivery management and floral design. Birchett has always had a knack for creativity and fell in love with arranging flowers when she started with the shop during her junior year at Shawnee High School. Self-described as caring and fun loving, Birchett is most passionate about making people happy and hopes to one day work with exotic animals as a zoo keeper! In her free time, you can find Birchett volunteering at the Oklahoma City Zoo, drawing or at home relaxing with her dogs and fiancée, Joseph.
Emily Montgomery - Designer
Emily Montgomery was born and raised in Shawnee. Currently serving as a floral designer at House of Flowers, she is responsible for designing floral creations to client’s specifications and is passionate about introducing clients to new species and products. Montgomery first realized she had a passion for nature when she would help her mother in their garden as a little girl. She went on to pursue a degree in horticulture from the University of Arkansas. In her free time, you can find Montgomery playing the piano, volunteering at church or spending time with her beautiful daughter, Lyla, her husband, James, and their family dog, Dora. Her dream is to one day have her own greenhouse filled with bulb flowers and succulents.
Betty Brown - Shop Manager
Betty Brown is life-long resident of Shawnee and has been with House of Flowers for nearly 30 years. She currently serves as the shop manager and is responsible for working directly with clients, overseeing in-house workflow and designing floral arrangements. Brown is most passionate about building real relationships with clients, decorating and designing floral masterpieces. She is known for her creative flair and exceptional ‘high style’ design work including signature and wedding arrangements. In her free time, Brown enjoys traveling, relaxing at home drinking coffee and spending time with her husband, Tom, and her daughter, Brandy. Her life’s passion is for animals and she frequently volunteers at the Shawnee Animal Shelter.
