Blooming plants, green plants, dish gardens and tropical plants are all available at House of Flowers. Azaleas, hibiscus flowers and mums are some of the favorite blooming plants in Oklahoma because they can be planted outside and enjoyed for many years to come.

Azaleas are low, woody shrubs that have leathery, dark green leaves and 3 to 6 inch clusters of red, orange, coral, pink, white or purple flowers. Honor Heights Park, in Muskogee Oklahoma, has some of the most beautiful azaleas in the world and is the sight of the yearly Azalea Festival.

Chrysanthemums, or mums, come in a wide variety of solid colors as well as bicolor including pink, yellow, red, white, bronze, magenta and purple. Give Chrysanthemums plenty of bright, indirect light.

Bromeliad, Urn Plant or Flaming Sword have central floral spikes up to 2 feet tall. The long spiny edged leaves can be 8 to 10 inches long and form a cup that can hold water. Some have waxy, colored leaves. Keep Bromeliads in bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight can burn the leaves.

African Violets are popular blooming plants. Some African Violets have ruffled or serrated edges while others are smooth. Petal variations include single, double and ruffles blooms. Colors include deep purple, lavender, pink, yellow, white, red and bi-colors. African Violets need plenty of bright, indirect light to flower continuously.

House of Flowers dish gardens come in several different sizes. Your dish garden will contain small green plants and or a small blooming plant arranged together in an attractive container.

The Peace Lily, Spathiphyllum, is one of the most popular plants because they are easy to care for and are long lasting. The plants are usually uniform and full and grow 1 1/2 to 4 feet tall.

Pothos, or Devil's Ivy, will grow 6 to 10 feet draped from a hanging container or they will climb up a stake. Pothos are a very versatile climbing plant. Pothos are extremely hardy and only need water when the soil feels dry. Pothos prefer bright north or filtered light and thrive under artificial light which makes them a good choice for rooms without windows.

English Ivy has vine like foliage and is available in several shades of green, some with white or yellowish variegation. Spherical, conical, double-sphered and novelty formed topiaries are also available.

Philodendron are available in several leaf shapes: heartleaf, fiddleleaf, angel wing, pluto and tree. The leaf colors are red or green. Philodendrons are sturdy and popular foliage plants because of their glossy foliage and adaptability to indoors.

The Schefflera grows tall with thick, shiny leaves. The leaflets cluster in groups of seven or eight to form an umbrella shape. They are long lived foliage plants that can reach 8 feet tall or more. Scheffleras prefer four or more hours of bright light and can tolerate extreme temperatures for short periods.

Ficus or commonly known as Weeping Fig can be found in sizes ranging from 3 feet to 5 feet tall. Ficus are available in several forms, such as, bush, standard, braid and spiral.

Ferns vary in height from 24 - 30 inches. Leaf color is dark green with a fine texture. Generally they are easy to grow and can be maintained in a variety of environments. You will often see these in Oklahoma or the southern states hanging outside on porches or patios during the warmer months.

Dieffenbachia or commonly known as Dumb Cane are a popular foliage plant because they withstand an indoor environment better than most plants.

Areca Palm can be found in sizes ranging from 3 to 10 feet or even taller. Areca Palm are suitable for bright locations and requires heavy watering to do well.

The Orchid commonly known as Cymbidium, Dendrobium, Oncidium, Cattleya or Phalaenopsis. Throughout the world, more than 17,000 species of Orchids are known. Oncidium blossoms are 1/2 to 1 inch in size and are usually yellow with orange-red markings.

Cyclamen blooms have five petals and sweep up to resemble butterflies in the popular blooming plant.

Plants always make a suitable sympathy gift and tucked into an appropriate baby container they are a welcome reminder of that special day. Green plants or blooming plants are a good choice for hospital delivery, nursing home delivery or offices as space is often limited.
